Yeniett says that it had always been her goal to earn a degree—but life got in the way.

“I started college after high school, but once my son came along, it got complicated to continue,” she says. “I put college on hold and life got busy. I got a full-time job and started growing my career at JetBlue. At that point, college was too much from a time and cost perspective.”

When Yeniett heard about JetBlue Scholars, she jumped on board as an early tester of the program. A JetBlue Scholars success coach reviewed her transcripts. She had 40 college credits already.

A native Spanish speaker, Yeniett then passed a Spanish College Level Exam Program (CLEP) worth 12 college credits. She took three additional online courses to reach the 60 required credits and earned an associate degree from Thomas Edison State University.

“It was a goal I set for myself at a very young age,” she says. “I also like being a good example for my son. “If my son sees me going through college, it’s a big motivator for him. It shows him how important it is to have a degree.”
